Thursday Cookbook Giveaway Day
This week, it’s off to New York City, for a very opinionated view of what is the best eating in the Big Apple. Arthur Schwartz was, for many years, the major domo of food talk (and I mean talk) in New York. His daily radio program was heard by just about everyone in the food business, and he’s a James Beard Award-winning journalist. He now writes and teaches cooking classes in Italy, but this book has tons of great stories and recipes from his beloved city. One of my favorite memories (not in the book) is when I met him at the original Peter Luger’s steak house in Brooklyn, and waited all of 10 minutes for our table. To get this book, all you need to do is tell me – in 50 words or less – in the COMMENTS section below, why you want it. Extra credit for poems/haikus and deadline is 5 p.m. Friday. I’ll announce the winner over the weekend and send it out to you. So what are you waiting for already!?
Whenever I Visit New York: A Haiku
The isle of New York;
My heart is in Chicago,
but my stomach’s there.
They may not do their dogs
in Chicago-style
And while it’s not in pie form
the pizza’s still worthwhile
I think we both know
Chicago can’t be beat
In almost any comparison,
savory, salty, sweet
But if there’s another
that could be close
New York would be it
Not the bacon but the toast
Thanks for the chance
to win Schwartz’s new book
to help me get a taste
And help me get a look
At how New Yorkers eat
And which foods I should try
And which ones I should bake
And which ones I should fry
Pick me! Pick me! 😉
Congrats Carrie, you’re this week’s winner! Just send me your address, and I’ll put the book in the mail.
