Steve became Chicago's first regular radio food reporter in 1997, as a freelance contributor to WBEZ-FM's "Metropolis" show. Later, after the launch of "848", he became a weekly presence on the daily newsmagazine program, filing delicious, sound-rich stories from every corner of Chicago.
In 2000, he added food reporting duties for Public Radio International's "The World", filing mouth-watering reports from the spice fields of India, the prosciutto-scented hills of San Daniele, Italy, and the bustling Izakaya bars of Vancouver. His work for WBEZ and "The World" garnered five James Beard Awards for outstanding food reporting.
In 2007, Steve created "The Hungry Hound Radio Show" on WCKG (105.9 FM), Chicago's FM talk station. He presided over a one-hour weekly forum on food, wine and just about anything his listeners wanted to discuss - live - every Saturday evening.
