Since retiring from his famed namesake in Avondale last year, Doug Sohn has humbly managed to stay as relevant – and line-inducing – as ever. Starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 18, he pulls an all-day shift behind the counter (in true Hot Doug fashion, no table service) at Publican Quality Meats. In addition to his  duck fat fries, Sohn will feature at least a half dozen sausage varieties, while Bridgeport’s Marz Brewing takes over the taps and Lumpen Radio 105.5 the tunes.

The Publican will open at noon to accommodate the crowds with a limited menu of oysters and charcuterie alongside a full bar.

Down the street on Randolph, Bang Bang Pie Shop inaugurates avec’s 2016 brunch series this Sunday, January 10 with biscuits, gumbo and hand pies. The a la carte menu from Chef Patrick Cloud and baker Emily Stewart will be available until 2 p.m.
